In at least 2 streams either Jack or Denis have brought up various movies and books they had to see/read to get in to the " correct " mindset for the writing they were doing regarding lore and working on the story/fleshing out the history of the world. ( Jack famously called this homework )

Can you share the complete list for us? I would love to spend several nights to go through a bucket list like that before the release of Deadhaus and I have a sneaky suspicion that at least a few other community members feel the same way :)

Literary influences:

1) The Complete Weird Tales of H. P. Lovecraft - Howard Phillips Lovecraft
2) The Complete Malazan Book of the Fallen - Steve Erikson
3) Dracula - Bram Stroker
4) Thomas Ligotti's Books (Songs of a Dead Dreamer, Grimscribe and The Conspiracy Against the Human Race)
5) The Shining - Stephen King
6) The Black Company - Glen Cook
7) The Dark Tower Series - Stephen King
8) The Stormlight Archive - Brandon Sanderson
9) Pet Sematary - Stephen King
10) Gentleman Bastard Series - Scott Lynch
11) Conan The Barbarian - Robert E. Howard
12) The First Law Series - Joe Abercrombie

Movie influences:

1) The Thing
2) Event Horizon
3) Alien
4) John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness
5) 13 Ghosts
6) John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Darkness
7) The Void
8) Apostle
9) The Shrine
10) Hereditary
11) Black Mountain Side
12) Hellraiser
13) The Endless
14) It Follows
15) The Autopsy of Jane Doe

Honorable mentions:
Color Out of Space
The Cabin in the Woods
Dark City
Cemetery Man
The City of Lost Children

Those were the ones mentioned, but in truth, our entire lifetime of experiences is inevitably used as reference whenever something is designed. Which means sometimes we take inspiration from things we don't even remember/recognize, but they are still carried with us to some extent. :)

This was very informative and thank you for the quick reply :)

I am pretty sure Necroscope was mentioned as well.
